Velindre Cancer Centre is a division of the Trust, and one of the leading non-surgical oncology centres in the United Kingdom. The challenge is to go further and achieve the quality of services, patient experience and clinical outcomes that are comparable with the best in Europe and the western world. In support of this ambition, the Trust has facilitated the Transforming Cancer Services Programme, which sets out a compelling vision for excellence in South East Wales. Working closely with Welsh Government and Local Health Boards, the programme will consist of a number of projects which include the development of a new cancer centre (nVCC) in Cardiff, a Radiotherapy Satellite Centre in Abergavenny and the reconfiguration of outreach services.

The post holder will work in the nVCC Project as part of an equipment workstream, supporting the Transformational Change Director in delivering the workstream objectives and dependency link wider TCS Programme to deliver a new hospital in 2027. The post requires an individual who has excellent organisational and communication skills. Experience of working in healthcare setting is desirable but not essential.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a highly organised and reliable Equipment Assistant to join the Velindre Cancer Centre.

The post holder will:

  • Provide a range of administrative and project support to the Equipment workstream, with a particular focus on non-clinical equipment.
  • Work as part of the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) under the direction of the Equipment workstream lead
  • Will be responsible for supporting the wider nVCC Project Management Office (PMO) in the planning and delivery of projects across all services within the nVCC
  • Support the successful delivery of projects and that projects produce the required products, to the required standard of quality and within the specified constraints of time and cost.
