Job summary
A new opportunity has arisen for a Production Supervisor to join our Section 10 Aseptic Pharmacy Department at Velindre Cancer Centre, Cardiff.
The role will comprise of technical duties in supplying SACT, including Clinical Trial treatments, supervisory duties within the aseptic department, assisting with the Pharmacy Quality System, assisting the management team with delivering training and management of junior staff.

Successful candidates will be appointed to either of the following roles dependant on qualifications:
Band 5
If personal specification is met and experience supports appointment then the successful applicant will be appoint as a Band 5.
Band 5 subject to Annex 21
The successful candidate with a current level of experience that supports appointment but requires further training to support a band 5 role, will be appointed to the Band 5 subjected to Annex 21 - see documentation attached. During the training period a series of competenciesas well as on the job training will be undertaken. On successful attainment of the competencies to the required level, appointment will be made to the band 5 role.
Applicants who hold the Scientific Manufacturing Technician Qualification will be considered.
Main duties of the job
- Assisting the Senior Technician in the day to day running of the Aseptic Services Unit
- To organise the safe and efficient production of aseptically prepared products. Supervising a team whilst ensuring GMP, COSHH and local and trust procedures are adhered to.
- Co-ordinating the preparation of aseptically prepared medicines under Section 10 exemption of the Medicines Act 1968.
- Co-ordinating staffing to ensure appropriate skill mix and technical staff allocation throughout Aseptic Services liaising with the Senior Technician to identify any issues
- The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers welcome to apply.
