Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity to join our team in a forward thinking radiotherapy department at Velindre Cancer Service. This post is based at our new Radiotherapy Satellite centre at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

o To work as an integral part of the Radiotherapy team to support the Radiotherapy pathway including but not limited to pretreatment, treatment, on-treatment review and reception support.

o The Post holder will be responsible for supporting clinical and non-clinical practices within the radiotherapy environment

o As an employee of the NHS Wales the post holder will be required to adhere to the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales.

Essential

  • Previous experience working as a healthcare assistant in hospital /care home setting.
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of Health and Safety.
  • Experience of working face to face with customers/patients

Desirable

  • Experience of dealing with distressed patients/carers
  • Experience of using patient management systems e.g. WCP and WPAS
  • Communication training
  • Customer care training
  • Knowledge of waiting times
  • Experience of working within a hospital background.
  • Willingness to undertake training required to enhance the role

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent knowledge in health care.
  • Good general standard of education includes English and Maths as a minimum

Desirable

  • Evidence of educational development

  • IT skills- excel, word, outlook
