Job summary

We are offering an exciting opportunity for an Advanced Radiotherapy Clinical Computing and Engineering Technologist (Radiotherapy Satellite Centre) to join our team in a forward thinking radiotherapy physics department at the Velindre Cancer Service (Satellite Radiotherapy Unit at Neville Hall Hospital).

The Advanced Clinical Computing and Engineering Technologist will play a critical role in the maintenance, development, and quality assurance ofcomplex clinical systems and equipment.

The post-holder's main duties and expertise will be within radiotherapy clinical computing, but the postholder will additionally support theradiotherapy engineering service.

Main duties of the job

The Advanced Radiotherapy Clinical Computing and Engineering Technologist will play a critical role in the maintenance, development, and quality assurance of complex clinical systems and equipment. The role supports the safe and efficient delivery of radiotherapy services, ensuring patient safety and minimising downtime of radiotherapy treatment systems. The post-holder's main duties and expertise will be within radiotherapy clinical computing, but the postholder will additionally support the engineering service as required in order to provide a resilient radiotherapy technical service.

This post will be based at the new Radiotherapy Satellite Centre in Abergavenny but will contribute to the radiotherapy computing service across both Velindre radiotherapy sites, supporting innovation through system integration and development.

  • BSc or equivalent in Computing, Engineering, or Physical Sciences
  • Highly specialist expertise underpinned by theoretical knowledge & experience Understanding of specialist healthcare science activities acquired through training to master's degree or equivalent level of knowledge
  • Evidence of professional development, including relevant CPD activities

Desirable

  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RCT or HCPC registration or eligibility for registration).

Experience

  • Experience in clinical computing, including system management, integration, and troubleshooting
