Velindre Cancer Centre Pharmacy department are delighted to offer this exciting new opportunity to support our vision to be an international leader in research.
We are looking for a forward-thinking Pharmacist with significant experience of Clinical Trials and Hospital Pharmacy. You will lead, direct and develop our dynamic Pharmacy Clinical Trials service both now and into the future. You will play a key role in developing the team to meet the needs of our patients as we advance new partnerships and prepare to open our new Hospital.
As a member of the Pharmacy Senior Management Team, you will strategically lead on the Pharmacy Clinical Trials agenda, working alongside medical and nursing peers and the wider Research, Development and Innovation department as appropriate. You will be based at the cancer centre but have the flexibility to work across our delivery settings.
Whilst experience in cancer services is an advantage, we are most interested in your specialist knowledge of Pharmacy Clinical Trials services and your strategic vision. To support your development, we would look to tailor opportunities according to your needs.
You will maintain a research-related clinical commitment to maintain your clinical skills. There will be an opportunity to train/practice as an Independent Prescriber, working alongside our cancer site specialist teams, which includes 10 of your new pharmacist independent prescriber colleagues.
Main duties of the job
o To manage, develop and be responsible for Clinical Trials pharmacy services for Velindre Cancer Centre.o To support the Chief Pharmacist in developing, in an innovative way, the overall strategy for Research and Development and Clinical trials agenda at VCC in a manner that reflects Pharmacy, Trust, regional and NHS Wales national strategic priorities.o To work in conjunction with the Principal Pharmacists (Clinical, Technical and Digital Services) and Quality Assurance specialists to develop the provision of an efficient, high quality, professional and well-coordinated Pharmacy service capable of meeting all statutory, regulatory and NHS requirements relating to Clinical Trialso To provide expert advice to the Trust's Research & Development Department and Clinical Trials Principal Investigators in respect of all aspects of IMP manufacture, procurement and use and of adherence to associated legislation.o To lead Pharmacy support at MHRA GCP inspections ensuring access to documentationo To provide regular direct patient facing clinical pharmacy services as an advanced oncology specialist pharmacist.
