Job summary
The Cashier will be responsible for:
- Providing a day to day cashier service for Velindre Hospital, including the collection/receipt of cash from canteen, charity and callers in person.
- Operating the petty cash service in accordance with procedures.
- Leading on the counting process and preparing cash and cheques for banking.
- Ensuring cash and patients property is physically secure in the safes and properly accounted for using appropriate spreadsheets and paperwork.
- Managing incoming and outgoing post.
- Providing ad hoc administrative support.
Main duties of the job
Spends extended periods of time handling (counting) quantities of notes, coins and cheques in both standing and sitting positions and uses lifting aids as necessary to transport larger quantities of coins.
Responsible for petty cash float, including replenishment, and the safe storage of cash, cheques and patient's property.
Handles patient property, collates financial documents, collects cash/cheques etc. from other sources.
Provides information to manager & colleagues (orally & electronically) as required & asks/answers routine questions of/from staff, patients, the bank and the secure courier service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
