Occupational Therapy Clinical Lead -Band 7
Learning Disability Service - Wiltshire
37.5 Hours per week - Permanent
A rare
opportunity has arisen, due to retirement, to lead the Occupational Therapy
team for adults with learning disabilities in Wiltshire.
The post holder
will be responsible for leading a small but highly professional and experienced
team of specialist Occupational Therapists and assistant practitioners.
The OT team,
work as part of the wider Community Team for People with Learning Disabilities
(CTPLD). This is a multi-disciplinary team that is made up of Team Admin, Health
Facilitation Nurses, Behaviour Nurse Specialists, Continuing Health Care Nurses,
Physiotherapists and Speech and Language therapists. We also work closely with
our partners in Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health partnership (AWP) who provide
Psychiatry, Psychology and an Intensive support service. We also work closely
with our Wiltshire council social care colleagues.
Main duties of the job
We work as a county
wide service across the beautiful, rural, county of Wiltshire. We are based
around 4 hubs in Chippenham, Warminster, Salisbury and Marlborough
As a team we
provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment based on the Model of
Human Occupation (MOHO) We work with people with a learning disability who, may
in addition to their learning disability, have a diagnosis of Autism, epilepsy,
dementia, other complex health needs or behaviours that challenge services or
environments. You would be expected to carry a caseload alongside the lead
role. You would provide supervision to the Band 6 Occupational Therapists.
Provide advice to the team manager and deputy manager regarding occupational
therapy and work as part of the CTPLD, Health, Leadership team.

- In depth post registration experience of working as an Occupational Therapist with adults with a learning disability who have profound and complex needs/ or in a related area of expertise.
- Evidence of facilitating complex problem solving in the community.
- Developing ones self and others.
- Supervisory experience.
- Coordinate and delegate work and review peoples performance.
- Wide range of therapeutic skills appropriate to the post.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Experience of working in a Community Setting.
