Wiltshire Health and Care are excited to be looking for a Consultant Practitioner to join our community In Patient wards.
Wiltshire Health and Care are seeking applications from experienced, advanced, clinicians whose background in elderly medicine and frailty has resulted in expertise within the field.
Our vision is to recruit a Consultant Practitioner whose primary role will be as the named clinician for 30 in-patients within Savernake Hospital, Marlborough.
It is recognised that the cohort of patients accessing Community Inpatients beds is evolving, and there is an expectation that the post holder will actively participate in service development to meet the needs of the wider community.
Whilst the role is primarily intended to cover Savernake Inpatient beds, it is recognised the post holder will also hold the skills and expertise that will be welcomed in other areas of Wiltshire Health and Care services. It is hoped this will bring a variety of opportunities for the post holder to continue their own personal development.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be a clinical expert in the field of Care of the Older Person and be the Named Clinician for Inpatients within Savernake Hospital and will fulfil the 4 domains of the Consultant role:
1.Advanced and expert level practice within the field of older peoples care and frailty
2.Professional leadership and consultancy
3.Development and provision of education and training
4.Practice and service development, research and evaluation
The must haves for you to be considered for this role:
1.Educated to masters level with experience working as a Consultant Practitioner
2.Understanding of Community Inpatient services, including the changing demands on the service
3.Adaptive, reactive, style of working to support clinical teams in their delivery of high quality, harm free care

Essential
- Current registration as an Adult Nurse, Physiotherapist or Paramedic.
- Minimum 5 years experience of autonomous clinical practice.
- Masters degree ACP or equivalent experience robustly demonstrated.
- Management qualification or significant senior management experience in a healthcare setting.
- Evidence of professional and managerial development, including a comprehensive and relevant CPD portfolio
- Independent prescriber.
Desirable
- Desire to transition to a doctoral pathway
- Education /training qualification

- In-depth experience of working with older people across a range of environments, and as a senior clinical leader
- Experience of clinical practice development and applying continuous quality improvement methodology to develop services
- Demonstrable experience of developing and leading clinical governance.

- Experience of developing services in partnership with patients
