Job summary

Physiotherapist (Learning Disabilities) - Band 5

Based in Chippenham, Marlborough, Salisbury or Warminster

37.5 Hours per week - 12 month maternity Cover or when maternity leave finishes.

Do you want to:

- To broaden your skills?

- Work in a friendly and supportive team with regular joint working, supervision and CPD opportunities?

- Work flexibly? Organising your own diary with some home working and the option to work full or part time without weekend work?

Our specialist physiotherapy team works with adults who have learning disabilities and have a need for physiotherapy, where this cannot be fully met by mainstream services with reasonable adjustments. In this Band 5 role you will be fully supported to gain experience of adapting your physiotherapy skills and knowledge, working with a wide range of service users and their networks and providing specialist equipment (e.g. walkers, transfer aids and seating). You will have the opportunity to take part in regular supervision, joint working and expert, evidence based in house training. This includes learning about specialist mobility and falls assessments and equipment, reasonable adjustments, health inequalities, spasticity, sensory integration and meaningful engagement, epilepsy, positive behavioural management, bone health and frailty. You will also be part of our Stay Active Stay Well training and events, led by the physiotherapy team.

Main duties of the job

The Wiltshire Learning Disability Service is a caring and committed multidisicpinary team that is focussed on partnership working and delivering high quality person centred care. It is county-wide with bases in Chippenham, Marlborough, Salisbury and Warminster. It operates as an integrated multiagency health team co-located with colleagues from Avon and Wiltshire NHS Mental Health Partnership Trust and linking with Wiltshire Councils Learning Disability and Autism Service.

We have a 12 month fixed term, full time Band 5 vacancy to cover maternity leave (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, no on-call). Applicants should have a valid driving licence and access to their own vehicle for business use. We would welcome applications from people interested in a secondment. Please see the attached job description for further information. If you would like to informally discuss the role, please contact Reuben Collings, Head of Learning Disability Service or Ingrid Wilkinson, Lead Physiotherapist (Mon-Wed) ingrid.wilkinson3@nhs.net on 0333 034 8198 ext 2211 or 2255.
