The Malmesbury and Royal Wootton Bassett Community Team is looking for a Health Care Support Worker to work alongside Registered Community Nurses. You will work in patients homes and residential homes and work professionally in a Multi-Disciplinary Team. You will work in three localities Malmesbury/Sherston, Purton/Cricklade and Royal Wootton Bassett.
Our office base is in Malmesbury, with Therapists, Clinical Leads, a Home First Team, Care Coordinators and other staff.
Main duties of the job
The team is based in the Malmesbury Primary Care Centre, less than 10 minutes from Junction 17 of the M4. We operate a shift pattern from 08:30. 22.00. Health Care Support Workers are expected to work weekends and will be expected to cover late shifts as well as Core Shifts of 8.30am to 4.30pm. Evidence of experience in working with frail or elderly people is preferable.
The successful candidate will be asked to complete a Care Certificate in their first 3 months if they do not already possess one and will either have a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or be prepared to work towards this. Experience in NHS community patient care is preferable but not essential.
Applicants need to have evidence of good communication skills and be able to work with patients. The Community Support Workers do most of their visits single handed, so the ability to work across a large rural area is essential. The role is demanding but rewarding, and we are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and hardworking individual who can work flexibly and efficiently.
