An exciting opportunity has risen in the Transfusion Laboratory Services department at theWelsh Blood Service for the role of Scientific Education and Qualifications Lead (SEQL)
We are looking for a transfusion specialist Biomedical Scientist (BMS) with an extensive education and training background to join our dynamic transufusion services team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the coordination, delivery and assessment of a range of scientific and support qualifications undertaken by transfusion laboratory staff. They will also support the Head of laboratory services to develop the strategic educational direction of the department.
They will be required to demonstrate understanding and evidence of key educational strategies including coaching, mentoring and assessment skills and proactively manage and lead on competing demands in a fast changing environment.
Main duties of the job
Key aspects of this role include:
Leadership and direction of the educational requirements of the WBS transfusion laboratories. This will include delivery of a range scientific and support qualifications to enable an educated and self-motivated workforce
Development of a training and competency based programme for use within the transfusion labs
Delivery of monthly performance data to demonstrate the effectiveness of the WBS transfusion education programme
Promotion of the WBS via the medium of education both internally and with outside partnerships. These will include Higher Education Institutes, professional bodies and key customer stakeholders

- Evidence of participation in a CPD scheme
- Thorough knowledge of the requirements of HCPC/IBMS registration process
- Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements including GPG, MHRA, UKAS etc
