Job summary
An exciting opportunity has risen in the Transfusion Laboratory Services department at theWelsh Blood Service for the role of Deputy Head of Transfusion Laboratory Services. We are looking for an experienced leader with strong transfusion science background to join our dynamic team responsible for the provision of blood components and products across Wales as well as the of Red Cell Immunohaematology reference services.
The successful candidate will have a critical role in the delivery of the WBS Strategy and will lead on relevant work streams within it. They will be required to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and be methodical with their approach to competing demands. They will also be flexible and adapt in a fast paced and changing environment.
Main duties of the job
Key aspects of this role include:
Ensuring safe, effective and efficient delivery of high quality services.
Providing expert scientific advice and supporting operational and strategic direction.
Participating in the wider scientific Transfusion community, creating effective national and international partnerships, supporting benchmarking and shaping the future of Transfusion Laboratory Services.
Delivering specific laboratory and/or cross-cutting programmes of work including transformational and service improvement projects working closely with the Head of Transfusion Laboratory Services.

- Masters of Science in Transfusion or relevant science field.
- Recognised management/leadership qualification or equivalent level of experience.
