Deputy Head of Operations - Health Protection and Screening Services

1 position for Infection Division

Public Health Wales and more specifically the Health Protection and Screening Services Directorate (HPSS) is seeking a dynamic, forward thinking, and inspiring Deputy Head of Operations for the Infection Division who can play a pivotal role in the next phase of our exciting journey.

With expert knowledge and experience in your service area, along with senior leadership experience and a proven track record in the management of change, you will be well positioned to positively influence the Division and enable it to deliver a continued trajectory of success.

Main duties of the job

Role

Working to the Head of Operations, you will be a key member of the Divisional Senior Management Team working collaboratively with other senior leaders to deliver the following high-level objectives:

  1. Provide Excellent Services and Innovative Practice
  2. Create a Multidisciplinary, Diverse and Engaged Workforce
  3. Nurture Integration, Programmes and Strategic Partnerships

A key member of the Divisional Senior Management Team, you will lead the operational aspects of the Division. Working closely with the colleagues, supporting the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective services, you will provide assurance on the range of operational components including quality, finance and performance to the Senior Management Team and the HPSS Directorate Management Team.

Essential

  • Masters Degree of equivalent Experience

Desirable

  • Prince 2, MSP, or equivalent qualification or evidence of experience

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a Senior Manager within the NHS, Social Care or Voluntary Sector organisation
  • Possess in depth professional knowledge in a number of disciplines i.e. human resources, financial management, performance management
  • Experience of implementing business and operations strategy
  • Experience in leading organisational change in public sector including experience of working with staff, their representatives and Trade Unions/professional bodies
  • Experience in leading, motivating, managing and developing teams

Desirable

  • Experience of managing Public Health Services

Skills and Ability

Essential

  • Ability to influence stakeholders appropriately
  • Proven ability to achieve targets and objectives within a demanding a pressurised environment against challenging deadlines
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a manner which is clear, fluent and persuasive
