Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity within the Finance and Performance Division of the Operations and Finance Directorate at Public Health Wales. We are advertising for our Head of Financial Intelligence, Value and Impact. We would be delighted to hear from you if you have an interest in value and performance and are you looking for an exciting new challenge.

The role is a key role within the Organisation and provides an opportunity for the individual to become part of the Finance Division Senior Management Team and the Directorate Leadership Team. You will lead a small team with a varied portfolio including costing, value and performance. There are a number of exciting projects going on this area including value projects around prevention, improvements to performance reporting and performance management.

Main duties of the job

You will lead on:

Financial intelligence: ensuring that value, is an integral part of our arrangements;

Resource planning: ensuring that strategic and operational plans are developed dealing with both the long and short term requirements of Public Health Wales;

Forward thinking: ensuring that financial forecasts and modelling are developed and embedded in the way we work, and that effective risk management arrangements are embedded;

Financial monitoring: resource use, including long term trends and projections;

Options and decisions: Supporting policy decisions and business cases with evidence-based financial information.

Financial governance: ensuring that arrangements are fit for purpose;

Whole-system: Financial consequences are considered across the organisation and within Directorates, Divisions and Priorities, and

Advice: providing sound, commercial advice.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • CCAB Qualified Accountant - professional accountancy qualification plus further specialist knowledge training and experience. Membership of a professional Chartered Accounting institution.

  • Experience of successfully managing large and complex revenue budgets.
