An exciting opportunity has arisen to join NHS Wales Performance and Improvement as part of the team of the National Director-Mental Health, Learning Disability and Neurodiversity, working closely with colleagues and stakeholders. The postholder will develop, inform & influence the implementation of strategy for service delivery and policy objectives to enable the NHS achieving and sustaining the national requirements of the Welsh Government Delivery Framework. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving system-wide change. They will lead as directed & support the programme's strategic delivery, working closely with the Director who serves as SRO. Responsibilities include leading workstreams with partner agencies to achieve programme goals. We are looking for an experienced leader with a strong record of delivering complex transformation programmes. The role involves building and maintaining key professional relationships with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that the national programme of work is delivered and aligned with national strategies/programmes, ensuring stakeholders are briefed. The successful candidate will be part of a supportive and innovative team and will receive a comprehensive induction programme.

Main duties of the job

The programme brings together expertise from across NHS Wales, including Health Boards, NHS Trusts, NHS Wales Performance and Improvement, and adult social care, alongside third-sector partners and people with lived experience. The focus will be on delivering national strategic and ministerial priorities for neurodiversity, more specifically:

  • Develop a National Clinical / Professional Network
  • Progress actionable insights from accelerated design event
  • Produce a national best practice guide and toolkit to reduce unwarranted variation (develop leaner pathways and person-centred approaches through innovation, agree national standards to support transformation across Health Boards)
  • Develop an integrated quality statement for children's neurodivergence services
  • Coproduce and publish a shared Value Statement to communicate to all stakeholders the guiding principles which should underpin transformation and culture shift
  • Support Welsh Government to develop a plan to address the adult ADHD backlog issues
