This is a fixed term contract/secondment for 15 months due to funding.
This is a unique opportunity for experienced Psychiatrists to support the development of a national gambling harm treatment pathway for Wales and contribute to service transformation across substance misuse and adult mental health. The role sits within a multi-disciplinary team driving change through the Strategic Programme for Mental Health, offering influence over national policy, service design, and outcomes for people affected by addiction and mental health challenges.
You'll join a collaborative, forward-thinking team that values co-production, inclusive leadership, and trauma-informed care, helping to build a compassionate, evidence-based system for Wales. Main duties of the job
Provide clinical leadership in the development of service models and care pathways for gambling-related harms, substance misuse and adult mental health ensuring alignment with NICE guidance and evidence-based practices.
Clinical assessment of digital tools.
Design of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches
Represent the clinical voice at the WG Gambling Levy Steering Group.
Engage actively with NHS clinicians, voluntary sector providers, public health colleagues, and people with lived experience to ensure services are co-produced and integrated.
Provide input into recruitment and workforce development plans, including supervision and ongoing clinical support mechanisms.
Help develop and review outcome measures and data indicators to ensure meaningful evaluation of service impact.

To work with clinical and operational colleagues at all levels to pursue the transformation of services in an equitable and sustainable manner and contribute to the overall reduction of waiting lists
Lead regular All Wales meetings with regional and system-level colleagues to agree improvement priorities and review progress, with a key focus on the core improvement metrics in quality and productivity
To provide leadership and build effective relationships with national clinical implementation network leads and senior clinical leads from relevant Colleges / etc.
To utilise clinical expertise and the national role to promote and influence key Health Board Stakeholders to adopt and move forward with best practice and deliver upon ambitions and the associated improved outcomes for patients
To work within the NHS Executive Quality function to assess implementation of recommended standards and pathways
To regularly review progress with building a robust network of specialty clinical leads at regional and system levels and to work together to establish such structures where they do not yet exist
To consider the appropriate population footprint for services in particular using criteria to recommend where services ought to be regionally, supra-regionally or nationally delivered.
