An opportunity has arisen for an experienced People & OD Advisor who will be an integral part of the Public Health Wales People & Organisational Development Team.

The post holder will work as part of the People & Organisational Development Directorate. The successful candidate will need to develop a comprehensive understanding of operational HR case work, including; sickness, capability and disciplinary as well as a sound knowledge of policies and terms and conditions of employment.

The post holder will be expected to build effective working relationships with Managers and to build credibility quickly.

We are looking for candidates who ideally have experience of working in the NHS or a similar setting and have a CIPD Associate qualification. Candidates will need to be great communicators and have the ability to balance priorities and workload to meet the needs of a busy service.

The team are based at Capital Quarter 2 in Cardiff and work in a hybrid flexible way predominately working from home.

This is a fixed term contract post, to provide secondment cover.

Main duties of the job

To provide comprehensive, expert People & OD advice, that includes guidance and support to managers and staff on the full range of People & OD policies, practices, procedures and supporting resources that enable managers to manage and develop staff more effectively and improve performance; covering the areas of:

  • People policy, practices and procedures,
  • Staff health and well-being,
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion,
  • Recruitment,
  • Staff engagement.

The post holder will provide ongoing coaching and support to case management ensuring managers are aware of their responsibilities in the appropriate application and implementation of People & OD policies, practices and procedures; and that these are delivered in line with Public Health Wales values and behaviours.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
