Job summary

It is an exciting time to be joining Public Health Wales as Lead Cloud Architect. This is a new role with responsibility for supporting the delivery of a number of high profile digital and data programmes. You will lead the development of cloud architecture strategies, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of patient-focused digital services.

The Cloud Transition team is a small but emerging function within Digital Services. A key part of your role will be tomanage and develop a team of cloud engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. You will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and support to ensure the team delivers robust, compliant, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure and services.

Main duties of the job

As a leader in the Digital Services division, you will support other teams to adopt new approaches to our digital development, set standards for cloud governance and collaborate with colleagues across NHS Wales to leverage cloud technologies to improve service delivery.

Reporting to the Head of Digital Experience and Services, you will lead the planning and design of our cloud architecture; assess and monitor our cloud performance, costs and risks; align cloud solutions with digital transformation and data governance; and oversee partner relationships and procurement.

The role will work closely with Leads for Cyber and Ops, ensuring collaboration between teams and a shared understanding of goals and objectives. You will need to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels and in multiple organisations.
