Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic individual with relevant experience to lead on Quality Management for Microbiology, Mid and West, Public Health Wales. The office holder will support the Mid and West Wales Executive Management team to ensure that all laboratories and departments meet and exceed the standards required to obtain ISO 15189:2022 accreditation. Mid and West Wales Microbiology provides a wide range of diagnostic services for hospitals, clinics and GPs across the Mid and West Wales. The lab provides diagnostic bacteriology, benefitting from investment in a wide range of analyzers and a wide range of molecular platforms.

The Microbiology service in Mid and West Wales has a central laboratory (hub) at Singleton hospital and has acute service laboratories at Glangwili and Bronglais hospitals.We are looking for someone who can demonstrate previous experience relevant to the role, who works well under pressure to meet deadlines. An excellent communicator, accustomed to maintaining confidentiality, you will be able to focus on details and will have good IT and data analysis skills.The successful candidate will work with quality staff in all laboratories and the wider network to take forward key service and workforce objectives.

Main duties of the job

In collaboration with the Regional Clinical Lead and the Regional Manager, the Regional Quality Lead will be responsible for the management of all aspects of Quality within the region including policy development and implementation for, to include devising and delivering specialist quality training across the service.

The Quality Lead will also ensure that all other laboratories within the Mid and West Wales region strive to maintain quality standards in line with ISO 15189 requirements, and will support areas where necessary.

The Quality Lead will work autonomously within the all the laboratories in the region, as the Quality expert. The Quality Lead will also need to work with the other Quality officers within each lab to ensure progress of all quality aspects are maintained in each area.
