An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and experienced National Programme Manager / Head of Portfolio Management Office (PMO) to join the Six Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care National Programme.

The Six Goals National Programme has been established to support Health Boards and their partners to transform and improve delivery of Urgent and Emergency Care services to the people in Wales. The Six Goals, co-designed by clinical and professional leads, span the Urgent and Emergency Care pathway and reflect the priorities in the Programme for Government 2021-2026 to provide effective, high quality and sustainable healthcare as close to home as possible, and to improve service access and integration.

Main duties of the job

The National Programme Manager / Head of Portfolio Management Office (PMO) will be a key member of the Six Goals for Urgent and Emergency Care National Programme Team. As Head of PMO, this post will lead a team of project managers and ensure the National Programme and national transformational workstreams have excellent programme assurance. This will be achieved by ensuring a consistent and high-quality adoption of programme infrastructure and project methodologies, reporting standards, management of project lifecycles, dependencies, outcomes, risk management and benefits realisation.

Working in collaboration with Senior Leaders and Health Boards/Trusts across Wales, this post will be responsible for the successful delivery of specified programmes and workstreams within the Six Goals portfolio. There will be an emphasis on a number of critical enabling projects which currently include the delivery of a number of digital workstreams.
