Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Project Support Officer to join the National Strategic Clinical Network for Cancer, which is part of the NHS Wales Executive, hosted by Public Health Wales. The Cancer Network works with Health Boards and Trusts promoting collaboration among cancer clinicians, teams, and senior leaders across Wales to advance national cancer priorities; offer guidance and clinical expertise to Health Boards, the NHS Executive, and the Welsh Government; and support cancer clinicians to tackle local, regional, or tumour-specific challenges while sharing best practices and insights throughout Wales.

The role of Senior Project Support Officer will involve:

Providing excellent project and general administrative support to the Quality, Patient Engagement and Experience team within the cancer network.

Supporting the Patient Engagement and Experience Lead with preparation and delivery of patient and staff focus groups and surveys.

Preparation of project and report documentation.

Supporting preparations for meetings and events in a timely and detailed manner including development of presentations and other supporting documentation, and providing administrative support at meetings including taking minutes.

Taking responsibility for the management of defined areas of work as required by the Programme team.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the Project Support Officer is to support specific projects and sub-groups within the Wales Cancer Network as well as providing general administrative support.

The post holder will:

Provide general administrative support

Support the maintenance, management and oversight of project plans

Support the development and management of required documentation

Take responsibility for the management of defined areas of work within specific projects

Support the management of budgets

Support stakeholder communications and engagement

Produce reports on progress for internal and external use

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • The post holder will require NVQ Level 3 or equivalent level of experience, together with a high level of numeracy, written and spoken English.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Awareness of policies and procedures relating to dealing with confidential data both personal and organisational.
  • Thorough understanding of project/programme office functions.
  • Working knowledge of filing/data systems including records management.

Desirable

  • Advanced ECDL or equivalent.
  • Microsoft Project.

Experience

  • Demonstrable experience in an administrative role.
  • Previous experience of working with financial systems and/or purchasing of goods or equipment.
  • Previous experience of dealing with customers, clients and/or members of the public.

  • Experience of transcribing and minute taking.
