Following retirement of the existing post holder an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Manager to support the implementation of the National Clinical Strategy for Orthopaedics (NCSOS) and associated creation of the Wales Orthopaedic Network (WON).
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide senior management support to the Clinical Director, Associate Clinical Lead, and seven sub-specialty clinical leads from across Wales. The post holder will lead the programme management function for orthopaedics ensuring workstreams are properly structured, reported on and tracked to deliver programme outcomes and benefits.
The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with clinical and senior management colleagues from across Health Boards in Wales, together with building on working relationships with the regional orthopaedic programmes and all other relevant Clinical Networks and third sector organisations.
This is a key leadership role and a senior leader with drive and enthusiasm is sought to continue the work programme set in place following the publication of the NCSOS Surgical Blueprint for Orthopaedic Surgery in Wales in 2022.
Previous NHS experience in a senior manager role is essential, with experience of working at a senior level within orthopaedics beneficial.
This is a fixed term post for a period of 1 year. Working from home with travel to Bocam Park and other health service sites as required. Hours are flexible and can be negotiated to suit the best candidate. Secondments will also be considered.

- Excellent specialist and practical experience in delivering large change projects.
- Specialist knowledge to include an understanding of how a programme is structured and delivered through projects and people; an understanding of performance management processes and their role in the delivery of large change projects.
- Knowledge of governance structures and how their hierarchy integrates to support the delivery of a large programme of work.
- Specialist knowledge of primary, secondary and social care systems both operationally and corporately.
