Job summary

Do you have knowledge and experience of public health? We currently have a fixed term opportunity for a Public Health Practitionerto join the Health Protection Services Directorate within Public Health Wales as part of the Communicable Disease Inclusion Health Programme (CDIHP)

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is passionate about health protection for inclusion health groups, and an excellent team player, with a relevant degree and work-based experience in a related field.

This is a national role sharing knowledge and evidence to influence stakeholders to improve health protection services for criminal justice populations in Wales and contribute to reducing health inequalities in Wales.

Main duties of the job

The Public Health Practitioner will:

  • Lead on the dissemination of knowledge and evidence relating to health protection issues affecting criminal justice populations in Wales.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of health protection projects and interventions serving criminal justice populations at an All-Wales level.
  • Contribute to the development of policy by building the evidence base to inform national health protection policy.
  • Monitor and contribute to evaluation of actions to improve health and reduce health inequalities.
  • Monitor the delivery of project plans and relevant sections of the Health Protection Criminal Justice Partnership Agreement and wider Prison Partnership Agreement.
  • Contribute to the development of interventions that are coproduced with key stakeholders including justice services and the public.
  • Contribute to research and evaluation of health protection issues affecting criminal justice populations in Wales.
