This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and forward-thinking Team, supporting the Patient Educational packages (EPP Cymru) and Quality Improvement Training for NHS Wales.

We are looking to appoint an individual who is enthusiastic, compassionate, creative and motivated to join our Academy Team. The position will be based in our Public Health Wales offices in south and north Wales, however current working conditions support a blend of office and home working, which may continue for some time.

From 1 April 2023 Improvement Cymru became part of the NHS Wales Executive. As a subsidiary brand of the NHS Wales Executive, Improvement Cymru will operate in shadow format for the first 12 months before formally joining the NHS Wales Executive in April 2024.

Main duties of the job

The role will focus on supporting the Self -Management Programme Lead in the ongoing training, development and improvement of the (EPP) Cymru, maintaining existing functions and ensuring adherence to the quality assurance framework, building upon the solid foundations already established. You will also will be supporting the development and delivery of quality improvement training for Improvement Cymru Academy.

This comes at a time when the NHS has changed considerably as a result of the pandemic and further policy developments. This period has given us the opportunity to evolve our ways of working to support organisations during this crucial period of recovery, and beyond.

The overarching goal of Patient Education (EPP Cymru) and Improvement Cymru Academy is to support the NHS through improved outcomes and experience for thepopulation ofWales.

We work closely with partners in health, social care, education and wider UK improvement partners to inform our improvement curricula.

  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent level of management experience.
  • Specialist knowledge and understanding of self-management and lay-led self-care, including models of behaviour change
  • Accredited EPP Tutor
  • Accredited EPP Assessor
  • Accredited or working towards accreditation to Master Trainer level in Chronic Disease Management (SMRC)
  • Evidence of continued professional development/further training

Desirable

  • Quality improvement qualification
  • Training delivery qualification

Experience

  • Experience of providing support and supervision/training to staff or volunteers
  • Taking a leading role in developing and implementing projects/procedures/plans
  • Experience of living with or being affected by a person living with a disease or a long-term condition
  • Recruitment and selection of staff /volunteers
  • Experience of providing advice to health and social care professionals with regard to the integration of self-management approaches within patient care pathways.
  • Experience of providing non-clinical advice to individuals to enable and empower them to self-manage more effectively and to assist them in implementing clinical advice received elsewhere.
  • Working with a quality standards framework
