Public Health Wales and more specifically the Health Protection and Screening Services Directorate (HPSS) is seeking a dynamic, forward thinking, individual who can play a pivotal role in the next phase of our exciting journey to deliver the PHW Long Term Strategy. With knowledge and experience in Business and Operations, along with a successful record in the delivery of projects and the management of change, you will be well positioned to support the Directorate to deliver its business and operational objectives.

Role

Working to the Health Protection and Screening Services Senior Central Business and Operations Manager, you will work collaboratively across the Directorate to deliver HPSS high-level objectives.

The Central Team work across the breadth of the Directorate covering all domains of operational delivery and project management. Working collaboratively you will have a lead area and will plan for and support the delivery of high-quality, safe, and effective services. The portfolio of work will provide assurance on the range of operational components including quality, people, finance and performance to the HPSS Directorate Leadership and Management Teams.

Main duties of the job

JOB PURPOSE

Working to a Senior Business and Operations Manager, the post holder will work in partnership with operations colleagues, subject matter experts, clinicians and public health specialists across the Health Protection and Screening Services (HPSS) Directorate. Where appropriate, to support the effective operational delivery of excellent public health services across an all Wales footprint.

The role will be varied and will include supporting colleagues as well as managing specific projects designed to ensure appropriate systems and processes are in place.to deliver excellent services. You will be involved in developing new ways of working in a fast paced and dynamic environment. You will be joining the team at a time of transition when there is much to do to in order to support staff through change as well as maintaining essential services.

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working in an operational management role, managing performance to agreed standards and simultaneously managing several change / improvement projects. You will have excellent management and leadership skills with a track record of successfully responding to sudden and unexpected demands.

  • Masters degree level qualification in Healthcare management or management related subject or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Demonstrate standard keyboard skills and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages. ECDL Level 2 or equivalent.

  • Experience of coordinating complex work across a large number of staff
  • Knowledge of NHS Change Management and Continuous Improvement agenda and methodologies
  • Understand the requirements of Governance in relation to the NHS
  • Management experience in a senior role ideally within the NHS or Social Care
