An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an Advanced Epidemiological Scientist in the Health Protection Division in Public Health Wales NHS Trust. This temporary post will be fixed term until 31st August 2025.The post holder will work in the Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme and Communicable Disease Surveillance Centre based at Number 2 Capital Quarter, in central Cardiff, specialising in vaccine preventable disease and respiratory infections.

Main duties of the job

This post is designed to largely focus on the surveillance of vaccination programmes , as part of a broader surveillance and epidemiology role. The post holder will work with analysts, epidemiologists, clinicians and scientists, providing support to epidemiological studies and research.

Applicants must have a good honours degree in a scientific or numerate subject and a master's qualification in public health or epidemiologyorequivalent relevant experience. We are looking for a team player with good organisational and communication skills, who can demonstrate a flexible attitude and the temperament to work under pressure.

The post will primarily be based at Public Health Wales' headquarters at Number 2 Capital Quarter in central Cardiff, but other bases within Public Health Wales offices could be considered upon discussion with the successful candidate.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
