Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join the Strategy, Planning & Performance Directorate in the role of Principal Analyst.

Main duties of the job

This post reports directly to the Performance Manager (WAST & Modelling), providing support on improved patient care and staff well-being through quality & improvement work, with a particular focus on the Trust's Quality & Performance Management Framework and related frameworks, for example, the Trust's Forecasting & Modelling Framework.

The role has a broad remit, across the whole of the Trust, with the ability to connect frameworks, data and analysis together. The post holder will have a strong ability to analyse data and develop performance management governance.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential

  • Relevant Masters or equivalent experience.
  • Highly developed Specialist knowledge and experience of statistical and analytical techniques and procedures.

Desirable

  • High level of understanding of Improvement in health and care settings, and the role of Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.
  • Understanding of analytical techniques - specifically data and measurement including advanced graphs, correlation & regression, pivot tables statistical process control.
  • Knowledge of improvement techniques - specifically Plan/Do/Study Act and value- based healthcare.

Experience

  • Experience of communicating highly complex information to a non- technical audience.

Skills and Attributes

Essential

  • Advanced IT skills with experience of using Microsoft Office applications, in- particular advanced MS Excel knowledge.
  • Statistical analysis of highly complex information, using software packages such as QI Charts, StudyIt2
  • Advanced used, in particular data interrogation, of performance management software: Power BI and data visualisation of results.
  • Ability to present highly complex data in a succinct way for senior decision-makers.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good team player with well- developed interpersonal skills.
  • Show resilience, stamina and reliability under pressure.

  • Welsh Language Skills are desirable levels 1 to 5 in understanding, speaking, reading, and writing in Welsh.
