Locality Manager Specialist Operations

Job summary

The Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust (WAST) is looking to recruit a Locality Manager (LM) to work within the Specialist Operations department. The role will primarily be managing the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and will also have responsibility for the Specialist Operational Response Team (SORT) capability.

A background in Specialist Operations is desirable but not essential. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a strong managerial portfolio, including evidence of effective staff leadership, support, and the ability to drive meaningful change.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

HART is a specially recruited team of experienced Paramedics who are trained and equipped to provide the ambulance service response to high risk and complex emergency situations. The role of the LM Specialist Operations is key to managing and overseeing the effective running of the unit and tactically delivering on the Strategic direction set by the senior management for EPRR and Specialist Operations.

It is desirable that applicants for this post are HCPC registered Paramedics and are fully HART trained with extensive experience in all the core HART competencies with a working knowledge of managing a HART team at an operational level.

The post will be based at the WAST Specialist Operations Unit in Bridgend South Wales. The post holders would be expected to travel across the Trust as required for the role.

The posts include an on-call requirement, the post holder will be required to undertake and successfully pass the National Interagency Liaison Officer (NILO) course and associated internal and external command courses.

Those who are successful in the application phase will be required to undertake an interview, prepare, and present a presentation and take part in an assurance panel assessment.
