An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust as its first Head of Commercial Development.

A unique opportunity to join an ambitious organisation with a transformative agenda to develop and drive forward our commercial strategy, directing and managing all the Trust's activities concerned with new business development, including bids and tenders, the generation of new income streams, and (where applicable) to ensure the protection of current business which Commissioners may re-tender.

This role is ideally suited to someone who is a commercial development specialist, with ambition, commitment, and a strong suite of commercial and entrepreneurial skills. You will need to be adaptable, organised, have great interpersonal skills with the knowledge and experience needed to realise our commercial ambitions from their infancy.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of the job are to ensure the Trust has a sustainable approach to delivering on its commercial strategy, commercial activity, and business development ambitions, in line with its Financial Sustainability objectives. The post holder will ensure the structures are in place to scope, assess, and manage the creation of new income streams using existing idea submission systems, market knowledge, and experience of commercial development in public sector organisations.

You will also need demonstrable experience of harnessing ideas and translating them into viable commercial propositions and products, as well as a full grasp of the necessary governance and legal structures required to realise those ideas. In line with the Trust's Starting Salary Procedure, all applicants will start at the bottom of the band for the position applied for, but can apply for a higher salary if they have previous experience relevant to the position.
