Job summary

We are looking for a dynamic, modern and experienced trainer to join the national volunteer community first responder team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all volunteer training needs, and will also be engaging in other activities within the team, to ensure that WAST support it's communities to become more resilient.

The successful candidate will be expected to plan, manage and deliver training across regions, under the direction of the Operations Manager Community Support.

Operational bases will be regional headquarters in South Wales - Swansea with the expectation to travel to meet the training requirements with some overnight stays.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Operations Directorate for a National Community First Responder Trainer to engage with and train Community First Responders and associated volunteers to promote safe clinical practices to the organisation's service users.

You must be an Emergency Medical Technician or other registered healthcare professional, ideally with Level 3 qualification in education and training and sound knowledge and application of training techniques.

You will work as a key member of the Community First Responder Team, responsible for planning, providing and facilitating training. You will deliver statutory and mandatory training to staff and volunteers, prepare and distribute training materials, assess learners' capabilities and be able to provide constructive feedback as required.

Our volunteers undertake a variety of roles, including Community First Responders (CFRs). CFRs make a significant and valued contribution to Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust's ability to respond to emergency 999 calls in a timely manner. They operate within their local communities, working closely with clinicians based in the Trust's Clinical Contact Centre. This helps to ensure that patients receive a timely response to 999 calls and good quality, safe, appropriate assessment and care whilst it is determined whether an emergency ambulance and potentially conveyance to hospital is required.
