We are looking to appoint to the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, which is a large acute hospital caring for a population of over 650,000. You will be involved in ward based clinical work and out-patient clinic activity, and there will be an opportunity for training in basic endoscopy.

Main duties of the job
Duties are detailed in a rota, including:
Participation in the registrars on-call rota for general medicine (shifts limited to 13 hours, 7 spells per annum of 3 or 4 nights with days-off in lieu; daytime/evening on-call approx 1/fortnight; weekend day shifts approx 1 in 7).
The Gastroenterology Specialist Registrars are responsible for the day to day running of the Gastroenterology Ward and outlying patients. This involves registrar led ward rounds and supporting juniors on the wards. They are also responsible for reviewing ward referrals to gastroenterology from other specialities, one or two afternoons per week.
There will be opportunities to undertake outpatient clinics under the supervision of a Consultant and for training in basic diagnostic endoscopy.
