Job summary
An exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated, compassionate doctor has become available. Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth is a large acute hospital with 1200 beds, 28 operating theatres (including dedicated endoscopy suites) and excellent high care and critical care facilities. We are looking for doctors to recruit at an FY2 or IMT equivalent level into the Medicine Division.
The initial job will cover until Aug 2026 with review to continue after. Initially gap in Older Persons Medicine.
Main duties of the job
This is a rotational programme for Locally Employed Doctors to have the opportunity to work in a variety of medical/surgical specialties over a 12-month period.
We know the importance of supported learning opportunities and are proud of the encouraging environment that our team cultivates we promise departmental teaching, MDT meetings, grand rounds and journal clubs as well as allocated lunchtime training and study leave. We have an excellent record of junior doctors progressing on to formal training programmes. We have an active research unit, working in partnership with the University of Portsmouth, and currently have a number of projects developed by our junior colleagues achieving presentation and publication. You will have the opportunity to be involved in this.

- Attend daily ward handovers
- Work as part of a medical ward team
- Work and liaise with a ward multi-disciplinary team
