Main duties of the job

The Women and Childrens Care Group requires a senior operational leader who can operationally lead the care group with a deep commitment to patient safety and experience. This diverse role involves overseeing Gynaecology, Maternity, Neonatal, and Paediatric services both inpatient and outpatient services this role is about creating an environment where clinical excellence can flourish through psychological safety and rigorous operational governance.

The services for women and children within PHU represent some of the largest services in the DGH setting with an extensive paediatric and NICU service, with strong regional commitments and responsibility.

About us

You will work alongside the Clinical Director, Senior Matron and Head of Midwifery to foster a "learning culture." Your role is to ensure that the Care Group structure is fit for purpose to deliver both national safety mandates (such as the Ockenden requirements in Maternity) and national and local performance standards including RTT and Cancer, whilst supporting a strong learning culture through a shared governance approach.

You will manage a complex budget that requires balancing the high costs of specialized clinical staffing with the need for efficiency and innovation.
