We are looking for a Clinical Trials Assistant to support the delivery of innovative clinical studies within the Emergency Department, Women and Childrens Research, and the Medical Assessment Unit at Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Trials Assistant, you will play a vital role in the successful delivery of research studies from start-up through to completion. Your responsibilities will include patient identification, recruitment, and follow-up, ensuring trials run smoothly and patients receive the highest standard of care. Full study-specific training will be provided to equip you with the skills and confidence needed to support our research nurse teams.

Job responsibilities

NHS Band 3: Salary £24,937 - £26,598 per annum.

Full time: 37.5 hours per week.

Permanent position.

Location: Queen Alexandra Hospital, Southwick Hill Road, Cosham.

What we are looking for:

Experience in bedside care, including recording vital signs
Ability to use healthcare systems to screen patients and review clinical information
Strong communication, interpersonal, and IT skills
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently and flexibly
Enthusiasm for supporting patient recruitment in line with NIHR targets

Phlebotomy skills are desirable but not essential training will be provided. Previous research experience is an advantage but not required, as comprehensive in-house training and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification will be offered.
