Do you want to make a difference?

Do you want to be at the forefront of new treatments and technology within healthcare?

Are you looking for a new and different career pathway while still maintaining your clinical skills and patient care?

If you are and would like to join a dynamic and caring team, delivering a varied research portfolio then keep reading. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our successful Research and Innovation Department, working as a Specialist Research Nurse within the Critical Care Research Team. Our team deliver a variety of studies, covering a range of conditions such as sepsis, ventilatory support, cardiac arrest outcomes and more. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the day to day running of high quality Commercial and National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) portfolio studies and will be expected to contribute to all aspects of trial delivery across the Trust.

Main duties of the job

Working with the other Specialist Research Nurses in the Critical Care Research Team, you will be responsible for delivering the diverse portfolio, providing high quality care from recruitment through to follow up, closeout and archive. The post holder will work in close collaboration with the Research nursing team, Principal Investigators, and support staff, to ensure compliance with Trust Policy, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Human Tissue Act (HTA), and trial specific protocols.

We are looking for a registered nurse with sound Critical Care and/or research experience, excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills, whilst possessing a keen eye for detail. Previous experience in delivering research trials and/or Critical Care knowledge would be advantageous but robust training will be provided to those who have no experience in this area. Leadership skills are essential to support both team and portfolio development, and there may be a requirement to undertake line management within this role so previous experience of managing or supervising junior staff is essential as is an ability to work independently and flexibly. The successful applicant will need to be enthusiastic and ready to work actively to support recruiting patients in line with NIHR targets. There may be times when you will be asked to support other areas to achieve these targets including off site such as community hospitals and the Portsmouth Research Hub.
