Job summary

The CT/MRI department at Queen Alexandra Hospital is a fun, dynamic, vibrant and progressive department with state-of-the-art technology, located on the South coast of England in a lively city with deep historical roots.

We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, driven, and motivated Band 6 Radiographer, with a keen interest to specialise in CT and MRI scanning to join our team.

The department has the benefit of cutting-edge CT and MRI technology and provides staff with the exciting opportunity to work with the latest Canon Aquilion One CT scanner and 3T MRI technology in a clinical setting. The department is equipped with 6 CT scanners and 3 MRI scanners with all staff encouraged to rotate through both modalities.

We opened a new Emergency Department in November 2024 and therefore are expanding our current team. We are a busy, progressive unit, with a very friendly and caring atmosphere, currently operating a 12-shift system over 7 days. There is also a requirement to contribute to the night shift and on-call rotas.

Main duties of the job

  • To conduct a wide range of CT/MR scans upon a range of patient types, both as an autonomous practitioner and as part of a multi-professional team, in a manner that meets profession, departmental and legal standards and requirements
  • To proactively assist in the management of the MRI and CT scanning departments on a daily basis whilst fostering a safe and efficient environment for patients, staff and visitors.
  • To supervise, and teach junior radiographers, student radiographers and RDAs and to actively help, teach and support training SPRs
  • Ensure patient safety is maintained and patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity and courtesy in accordance with Trust values.
  • Ensuring that at all times you act within your sphere of competence.
