Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust (PHU)hosts a fully quality assured Breast Cancer Screening Programme according to the National Breast Screening Service Specification. This programme is integrated with symptomatic and treatment breast services to form a patient-centred combined breast imaging service.

Main duties of the job

Working within a small but professional and friendly team, you will be part of the administrative support that ensures the smooth progress of clients through the breast imaging service.

Duties of the post involve all aspects of administration including reception cover, clinic processing, data input and all forms of client communication.

Please note the shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 08:30 to 16:30.

Job responsibilities

To respond to womens requests for a change of appointment either by post, telephone or in person, pleasantly and efficiently, amending details on Breast Screening Computer System (NBSS) and CRIS or PAS Hospital systems as appropriate.

To register and book appointments for clients to be screened outside normal batch routines using the NBSS.

To prepare clinics and associated paperwork for screening clinics.

To amend personal details and enter routine recall results from the screening episode onto NBSS.

To action regular print runs for GP reports using NBSS and to ensure their dispatch to individual Practices.

To retrieve and file films in the Breast Screening Unit and Trust filing systems, both before and after a screening appointment.

  • GCSE Level English and Maths or equivalent

Experience

  • At least 6 months reception experience.
  • At least 6 months experience working in an office environment.
  • Previous experience of working in a team.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Proven skills in use of Microsoft Office suite Outlook, Work, Excel etc
  • The ability to work using own initiative and without supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
