We are looking to appoint an exceptional Associate Chief Nurse Safeguarding (ACNS)

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic, and innovative safeguarding professional to join the Corporate Nursing team as part of the single corporate service across Isle of Wight Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals Trust.

This role will provide Trust wide strategic leadership as part of the single corporate service across Isle of Wight Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals Trust, reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer and Deputy Chief Nursing Officer. The successful candidate will be in integral part of the trust wide senior nursing team. Youwill ensure the Trust meets its obligations under the Childrens Act 2004, Working together to safeguard children 2023, Safeguarding Assurance and Accountability Framework 2022, Care Act 2014, regulatory remits of the CQC and other relevant legislation and guidance in order to ensure the Trust provides safe effective and well led services, in line with the Trust values which safeguard people at risk.

Main duties of the job

You will build effective and productive relationships with partner organisations and our communities, define a safeguarding strategy that reflects the national and local agendas, and provide professional guidance and support to colleagues regarding best practice.

You will have a proven track record of delivering leadership within safeguarding and you will take a strategic and professional lead in respect of this agenda for both children and adults. You will lead and support all activities necessary to ensure that we meet our responsibilities to our patients and carers.

With well developed expertise in driving continuous quality improvement you will be able to demonstrate the ability to engage staff at all levels, promoting collaborative working to achieve outcomes.

To provide strategic leadership as part of the single corporate service across Portsmouth Hospitals and the Isle of Wight Trust, reporting to the Group Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Nurse.

To support the Trusts active participation in multi-agency partnership work across the region.

Reporting to the Deputy Chief Nurse the post holder will have responsibility for leading the childrens, adults, maternity and mental health safeguarding functions providing leadership and direction to Named Professionals.

Be a core member of the single corporate service senior nursing team within the organisation and deputise or cross cover as required for the Deputy Chief Nurse or the Divisional Directors of Nursing.

Be a core member of the Trust Senior Nursing team supporting quality, safety and patient experience.

The post holder will lead the development of the Trusts strategy regarding all aspects of safeguarding, working with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver a comprehensive, cohesive, safe and effective safeguarding service for the Trust.

To provide visible and professional leadership in the co-ordination, monitoring and evaluation of all aspects of the at risk agenda for both children and adults.

To provide expert level of knowledge, leadership and professional advice in relation to safeguarding children and adults at risk, across the Trust, and the Board using lessons learnt from national and local case reviews, best practice evidence and research.

Provide a visible and accessible presence within the Trust.

The post holder will ensure that all statutory regulations, processes and performance requirements related to safeguarding are fully met and agreed at Executive and/or Trust level.

The post holder will lead, mentor and develop their team.

To support the Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Nurse in ensuring that all aspects of safeguarding are regularly reported to the Trust Board.

Responsible for implementation, maintenance and development of effective and efficient systems for the detection, prevention, surveillance, investigation and control of harm and abuse in partnership with the named Professionals.

To develop the Trusts internal capacity to provide assurances in relation to safeguarding processes.

Ensure the development, implementation and monitoring of infrastructures, and polices which are reflective of local multi-agency policies.

Develop, implement and monitor delivery of the Trusts safeguarding Strategy To provide highly specialist advice to clinical areas and management functions in relation to safeguarding policies.

To lead patient involvement, engage and involve at risk patients, relatives and advocates. Gain feedback in order to ensure services and service improvements are patient centred and enhance equality/ parity of esteem.

To lead and support service improvement work translating case review and patient feedback in to identifiable changes in practice or policy across the organisation.

To personally meet with patients and carers who may have been abused or at risk of abuse including those who may be angry or bereaved to advise on safeguarding procedures.

Responsible for safeguarding services, procedures, processes and policies for the Trust and act as an internal and external specialist for safeguarding ensuring priorities for safeguarding policy and practice development are agreed at Executive/Board level.

Responsible for the production, development, review and implementation of discrete policies and procedures in respect of:
