Job Summary:

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated doctor, who is committed to excellence to join our dynamic team. This post will be for a fixed term period.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

The post holders will contribute to the delivery of a high quality service, helping to drive a multi-disciplinary team approach to care within the specialty.

Duties will include:

  1. Taking referrals from the emergency department and providing medical opinions for patients in ED including the resuscitation bay;
  2. Reviewing patients on AMU;
  3. Providing support for Resident Doctors working on AMU including carrying out and supervising bedside procedures;
  4. Assessing patients in an Ambulatory Emergency Care setting;
  5. Taking part in the general medical registrar rota which includes weekend and night shifts;
  6. Ensure discharge summaries are completed in a timely manner and communicate with GPs and other clinical colleagues as required;
  7. Maintain continued professional development;
  8. Attend educational and multidisciplinary sessions;
  9. Teach medical students, Core doctors and Foundation doctors;
  10. Comply with all local policies including dress code, annual and study leave.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
  • Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC
  • Full MRCP
  • Advanced Life Support Certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent by the intended start date.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of completion of Internal medicine training or equivalent 3 year training programme
  • Demonstrable skills and experience of Acute Medicine or General Medicine
  • Experience as a Medical Specialty Trainee 3+ or equivalent
  • Previous experience working as a doctor in the NHS, preferably at registrar level

  • Demonstrate evidence of being able to:
  • Manage/prioritise time
  • Manage information effectively
  • Prioritise clinical need
  • Organise ward rounds
  • Ability to maximise safety and minimise risk
  • Monitor developing situations and anticipate issues
