Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and caring Maternity Support Worker to join our highly skilled and multi-disciplined team within our Community Maternity Service Department, providing outstanding care to women and their families.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of registered health care professionals assist the healthcare team with the provision of clinical care for a defined group of patients
Ensuring that always you act within your sphere of competence
Provide care to patients to maintain their personal hygiene and physical comfort ensuring that their privacy and dignity is always maintained. Ensure that patient experience is positive by treating all patients, relatives and colleagues with respect, dignity, and courtesy in accordance with Trust Values
Recognise patient's needs and changing condition and respond appropriately and effectively
Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and ensure follow Trust Policy regarding Infection Control and Prevention
Record and report information onto patient administration systems in written and electronic format, including assisting generic admin duties to assist the team
Always promote and demonstrate effective verbal and non-verbal communication with patients, relatives and colleagues recognising the need for tact, consideration and confidentiality

Job responsibilities

The Maternity support worker role is a diverse role incorporating elements of clinical care, clerical skills, and housekeeping duties, working collaboratively with the midwives, multi professional teams, service users and their families to provide excellent care.

You will be accountable to the midwife on duty, whilst always maintaining the dignity of patients and relatives, respecting their individual needs and wishes. You will maintain a professional and presentable image.

There is an expectation that you will work across our Community Birth Centres located in the City, Paulsgrove Family Hub, Blake Birth Centre Gosport and Fareham community hospital support the Community Midwifery teams , assisting with the running of Consultant Clinics, Phlebotomy Clinics.
