Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic locum Consultant colleague to provide maternity leave cover within our thriving lung and breast cancer practices. The post-holder will provide radiotherapy (including concurrent systemic therapy) and SABR for patients diagnosed with lung malignancies at St Richard's Hospital, Chichester. The practice is shared with a Consultant Medical Oncologist. The post-holder would also provide treatment (radiotherapy and systemic) for breast cancer patients at Queen Alexandra Hospital, Portsmouth, alongside a team of two Clinical Oncologists, one Consultant Radiographer and two Medical Oncologists. We have an established lung SABR service and recently treated our 100th lung SABR patient. We were a very early adopter of internal mammary chain radiotherapy in breast cancer and have served as mentors for a number of centres wanting to implement this. This is a 10 PA post, although candidates wishing to work fewer PAs are most welcome to discuss their requirements with the department. Alternative second tumour sites may be considered, particularly if the candidate had an interest in thyroid cancers. Again candidates are welcome to discuss this with the department.

The appointee will join the Oncology Team as a Locum Clinical Oncology Consultant and will be expected to participate in all facets of departmental activity. The post will be based at Queen Alexandra Hospital. Full participation in teaching, audit and research will be expected.
