The MRI/CT department at Queen Alexandra Hospital is a fun, dynamic, vibrant and progressive department with state of the art technology, located on the South coast of England in a lively city with deep historical roots.
We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic, driven, and motivated Band 5 Radiographer, with a keen interest to specialise in CT and MRI scanning to join our team.
The department has the benefit of cutting edge CT and MRI technology and provides staff with the exciting opportunity to work with the latest Canon Aquilion One CT scanner and 3T MRI technology in a clinical setting. The department is equipped with 4 CT scanners and 3 MRI scanners with all staff encouraged to rotate through both modalities once at band 6 level.
Main duties of the job
PHU are due to open a new Emergency Department in November 2024 and therefore are expanding our current team. The new department will be equipped with Canon Aquilion One Prism CT.
We are a busy, progressive unit, with a very friendly and caring atmosphere, currently operating a 12 shift system over 7 days. There is also a requirement to contribute to the night shift and on-call rotas. We also have a proven track record in training direct entry graduates in the specialist area of cross-sectional imaging with successful onwards promotion to a Band 6 role.

To learn and gain the skills and knowledge of all aspects of CT and MRI, to become full competency in all aspects of general and specialised CT and the basics of MRI scanning, and to manage their own workload.
To carry out all aspects of general and specialised CT and basic, limited MRI scanning, under the supervision of band 6 and band 7 radiographers.
To check completed scans against accepted diagnostic standards, including patients details and to act appropriately according to the findings.
