Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Radiologist with a significant interest in Head and Neck imaging to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be pivotal in delivering high-quality head and neck and diagnostic neuroradiology/stroke imaging services. Collaboration with existing consultants and supporting service redesign initiatives will be central to your responsibilities. Additionally, you will play a key role in providing training for Radiology Specialty Trainees and other rotating SPRs from Southampton.
Main duties of the job
Radiologists specializing in Head and Neck imaging are integral to diagnosing and managing various conditions affecting this critical region. Their duties span from conducting diagnostic imaging studies to collaborating with medical specialists and providing leadership in the radiology department.
Radiologists in Head and Neck imaging utilize various modalities such as X-rays, CT scans, MRI scans, and ultrasound to detect abnormalities, tumors, infections, and other conditions affecting the head and neck area.
They conduct specialized procedures including fluoroscopy, angiography, and nuclear medicine scans tailored to this region's needs, such as barium swallow studies, myelography, and lymph node biopsies.
After analyzing imaging results, Radiologists meticulously prepare detailed reports for referring physicians, offering accurate descriptions, differential diagnoses, and treatment recommendations.
Radiologists adhere to protocols and guidelines to maintain imaging quality, participating in quality assurance programs and continuing education to stay updated with advancements.
Providing compassionate care, they address patient concerns, explain procedures, and communicate findings effectively to patients and families, ensuring informed decision-making.
