The Portsmouth Sleep Clinic is an ever expanding, busy service within Respiratory outpatients. We support thousands of patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and other sleep conditions. With hundreds of referrals taken every month we are looking to develop our team further - this is an exciting time. We are currently seeking you to come and join our team to become the new Senior Technical Officer. We are a lively multidisciplinary team consisting of doctors, nurses, physiologists, a polysomnographer, technicians and clerical staff and we are looking to recruit a senior sleep technologist who will benefit from first class training and mentorship. You will be provided with the all the training and support needed to develop the skills and knowledge required.

Main duties of the job

As the Senior Technical Officer you will be involved in setting patients up for this testing process here in our Outpatient department, so they can then go home, undergo the test and return the equipment the next day for analysis.You will need to be sensitive to the patients needs and to be able to adjust the level of information given to them, displaying a level of interpersonal skills that engenders trust and understanding to maximise success of the test. You will also be responsible for managing all the masks, machines and ancilliary equipment for the service and for providing an equipment replacement facility for patients so a high level of organisational skill is needed. You will be conducting follow up clinics which provide support and advice to established patients. You will also line manage the Technical Officer and Sleep assistants.
