Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Care Support Worker to join the Transfer Team at Portsmouth Hospitals University Trust. This offers the chance to further develop core skills and consolidate previous experiences.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of a dynamic, hardworking and effective Transfer Team working alongside the Site Team, the Nursing team within the Acute Medical Unit and the ward areas. The potential candidate will be: A valued member of a team responsible for effective patient flow and movement between clinical areas Willing to work in conjunction with the Emergency Department, admission areas and other members of the Hospitals Operations Team to ensure patients are safely transferred An excellent communicator with good customer service skills Willing to attend all Trust essential training including Manual Handling and Basic Life support Prepared to work with empathy and compassion, understanding the importance of patient centred care Prepared to be on your feet, transferring patients on Trolleys, Beds and Wheelchairs for 90% of your shift

Qualifications

Essential

  • English and Maths qualification at Level 1
  • Be able to complete the Care Support Worker Development Programme within 3 months

Desirable

  • level 2 English and Maths.
  • QCF or BTEC or equivalent (NVQ) Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care/Clinical Health.

Experience

Desirable

  • Experience of working with people in a caring setting

Additional criteria

Essential

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Effective patient/client care skills
  • Able to meet the minimum skill set within first fifteen months of appointment with support and development where required (list of skills as defined in generic competency framework).

  • IT skills.
  • European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL).
