Job summary

Cardiff Cancer Research Hub - Trial Coordinator - 18 months fixed term contract due to meet the needs of the service.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player to join an established Research and Development team as a Trial Coordinator. This is a 18-month fixed term/secondment contract.

You will ideally have up to an NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent knowledge in health care, previous experience of working in either research, hospitals or an NHS environment and excellent communication and computer skills.

In this role you will assist with the setup of advanced therapy oncology research trials and maintain trial documents and databases. Therefore, you must have the proven ability to work in a team, prioritise your own workload, produce high quality accurate work and meet deadlines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Communicates effectively with ethics committees, R&D offices, Investigators and members of the multi-disciplinary team, pharmaceutical companies and research organisations.

Responds to patients/carers telephone calls (who may at times be distressed) tactfully and empathetically.

Reassures patients/carers regarding arrangements made.

Represents the Clinical Trial Unit Manager/Team Lead at all Wales and national meetings as required with feedback to relative personnel.

Acts as first point of contact for all enquires/queries into the unit. Direct to appropriate Team Lead or other team members promptly.

Communicates and liaises effectively with other departments within the division/Trust as required.

Organises monitoring visits for individual teams and provides necessary paperwork for each visit.

Provides information and answer queries (in relation to the clinical trials portfolio co-ordinated by the trial coordinator) from members of the MDT, departments within the Trust and outside agencies as required

Represents the Clinical Trial Unit at divisional and all Wales clinical trial CANISC database meetings.

Represents the Clinical Trial Unit at clinical research meetings as appropriate.
