Clinical Research Fellow in Early Phase Cancer Trials
This is a rare opportunity to join the early phase trial team delivering novel therapies to cancer patients at Velindre Cancer Centre and the Clinical Research Facility at University Hospital Wales in Cardiff. The post involves trial patient management and also research activity, the exact nature can be tailored to the interests of the successful candidate.

Main duties of the job
To conduct research within early phase oncology trial research and contribute to the overall research performance of Velindre and Cardiff University, carrying out research contributing to improvements in delivery of early phase oncology clinical trials and leading to the publishing of work in high-quality journals. The post is also designed to generate research proposals that can be submitted to gain funding to undertake higher research degree.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

- MRCP
- Full GMC Registration and License to Practice
- SCE - Speciality Certificate Examination in Medical Oncology or equivalent.
Desirable
- MSc, BSc, PhD
- Knowledge of grant applications
- Knowledge of process through R&D for clinical trials Proven publication record.
Skills/ Experience
Essential
- Clinical experience at the ST4 level or higher in medical oncology.
- Oncology experience including recruiting and management of patients into clinical trials.
- Skills in preparing and delivering presentations and reports.
- IT skills particularly in the use of MS office applications
- Analytical skills - able to analyse and present complex data, in a range of formats to a varietyof audiences.
Desirable
- Oncology experience to STR level
- Experience of working in or managing patients requiring high dependency/ intensive care
- Proven ability to manage own time and deliver a range of tasks to deadlines
- Experience of Phase oncology 1 trials
- Skills in educating in several teaching styles and multidisciplinary
