This post is based at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple. The team also provide an MSK service based at South Molton Community Hospital. The team consists of support workers, band 5 and 6 posts as well as band 7 clinicians.
You will be responsible for managing a complex caseload, and have advanced assessment, clinical decision making and management skills. You will be supporting colleagues with complex cases, provide training and supervision, be involved in clinical audit and willing to be engaged in research. Working closely with the Professional Lead, Team Leads and other colleagues will be essential to help drive quality improvement. Patients are referred from GPs, FCPs, Consultants, Orthopaedic Interface and other healthcare professionals. We run many different exercise classes across the community sites and are also lucky enough to have a hydrotherapy pool at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple.
You will be supported by both a professional and operational lead to help you reach your potential. There is strong collaborative working across teams in North Devon and across the wider MSK service which covers Exeter, North, Mid and East Devon.

There is a well-established, high quality in-service training program, coordinated by an education lead.
Innovation is central to Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) at the Royal Devon. We are not afraid of adopting new projects like running BOOST classes for stenotic back pain patients or being involved in research trials like the AFTER trial for ankle fractures, GRASP for rotator cuff pain and ProFHER for proximal humeral fractures. We continue our out of the box thinking with the development of new roles, a good example of this is the Research and Innovation Lead role we created within AHPs. An example of a Trust wide initiative is the use of our electronic patient record, digitalising and improving our service to patients.

Not forgetting, your team will be on hand to offer guidance and support, with your manager providing regular 121s and appraisals. Plus, theres Trust wide events and activities focussed on wellbeing.

Working Pattern: This role is 30.2 hrs per week. We have a flexible working policy that we are happy to discuss to establish suitable options for you and the department.
