Job summary
The Acute Medical Unit (AMU) are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated nurse to join our team as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse. You will get the opportunity to work across our dynamic unit where you will experience all aspects of working in Acute Medicine including Same Day Emergency Care and Medical Triage. We have 2 vacancies, 1 fixed term 12 month contract and 1 permanent contract. You will be required to have a minimum of 2 years of post-registration experience in acute medicine; this must be from the job start date of 1st October 2025, pending recruitment checks.
The overall job purpose of the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse is to provide clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing and multi-professional team on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU). This includes acting as a clinical leader and an expert practitioner liaising, guiding and advising the multidisciplinary team and external agencies in the provision of optimum patient care.This will require the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse to regularly review the clinical records of patients under their sphere of responsibility, to evaluate the effectiveness of the standard of care planning and delivery, and to use the results to work with the team to improve patient outcomes.
