Job summary

The post holder is responsible for providing dietetic assessment & treatment of a specified caseload of inpatients across the in-patient wards and supporting the day-to-day running of the service. With the aim of supporting patient flow and discharge through the hospital and contributing to a reduction of re-admissions.

An opportunity has arisen for a full time Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to work within the acute Nutrition and Dietetic team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

A Level 5 Diploma for Assistant Practitioners in Healthcare, HND, Foundation Degree, BTEC higher or equivalent relevant nutrition or health related qualification is essential along with previous healthcare experience, an interest in nutrition and food and a desire to work with patients and the healthcare team. You need to be enthusiastic, organised, flexible and a team player.

The role will involve supporting and assisting the acute team registered Dietitians in the assessment and treatment of patients to provide a nutritional service to general inpatients at the RD&E hospital with the aim of supporting patient flow. It will involve delivering enteral feeding pump training to patients and carers, liaising with other dietetic and multidisciplinary teams, treat patients according to set protocols and promote the importance of nutrition and hydration throughout the organisation and wider healthcare community.

Training will be given and there will be an opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through the Trusts Personal Development Review process.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours - 9am-5pm Monday to Friday

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2025/6 rates, inclusive of a 3.6% pay award which will be implemented later this year. If you join before the implementation date, the pay award will be backdated to your start date. Until then, remuneration will be based on the 2024/5 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2024/25 | NHS Employers)
